Coaching is a structured form of development where an experienced individual, known as a coach, supports a client or learner in attaining a specific standard or goal by giving specialized coaching and advice. The coach may be called a mentor, coach trainer, or simply coach. This kind of development occurs over time, usually with the accompaniment of a supportive partner. Coaches generally have a strong desire to understand what motivates the people they train, the areas in need of improvement in their current situations and how to deal with people in authority who can help direct the progression of the training.

Coaching has been defined as the application of a specialized system of teaching and learning in order to enhance understanding, creativity, action, self-confidence, adaptability, productivity, and growth in all aspects of life. The process of coaching is not confined to one discipline but has many different aspects, such as: conflict solving, career coaching, development, health, and beauty coaching, personal development, family coaching, and many more. In addition, Coaching can be taught by learners who already possess some qualities such as: the ability to motivate, the ability to create change, leadership skills, communication skills, and qualities such as motivation, persistence, and motivation.

There are several ways in which a Coaching could differ from traditional schooling and training. The first difference is that in traditional schooling the student and all of his or her information is passed from teacher to student in a prescribed order. The coach instead provides supportive information and training in order to support each student. In addition, a coaching relationship is established between the coach and the coachee, which in many ways is much more comfortable than the one between a parent and a child. Furthermore, many people feel that the relationship developed between a coach and a student is much more effective than the one that exists between parents and their children.

Another important difference between Coaching and traditional mentoring is that Coaching involves open-ended instruction and feedback. Unlike mentoring, which often occurs after a specific point in a person’s life, coaching can occur at any point in an individual’s development. It can occur before he or she achieves his or her goal, during a job search or during a transition within an organization. This type of Coaching also allows for the possibility of tailoring the experience based on the needs of each individual.

The third difference between Coaching and other related fields is that it is much more personalized. Whereas leaders may come from a professional background with years of proven success; others have not attained this level of success without having had a substantial amount of formal training. This allows each of the individual to receive feedback on their performance from a self-determined and knowledgeable advisory board. In addition, professional coaches often serve as authors or contributors to an organization’s newsletters and publications, thereby creating exposure to the business and providing credibility for the coach/company.

Professional coaches have a unique opportunity to help people achieve their goals. They can be called upon when an individual needs help to focus his or her attention on the areas where they need the most assistance. From motivating a new recruit to helping an existing leader navigate change, professional coaches serve as powerful catalysts to achieve success.
